This blog is about life onboard SV Moana Roa, a 46 foot sailing catamaran, and the journey from the Caribbean back to Australia. Laurie and Sonia, Travis, Beau, and Kara leave home on Christmas Island (Australian Indian Ocean Territories) in December 2012 and set sail in January 2013.

Our last month on Moana Roa

December was a crazy and hectic month for us as we sailed south to Brisbane and then Sydney catching up with friends and relatives as well as packing in enough shopping to last a lifetime, seeing the sights, preparing the boat for sale, and with Christmas and New Years's thrown in...
The symbolic end of our journey was to sail into Sydney Harbour almost two years to the day we set off from St Lucia in the Caribbean - half a world away.
What a fantastic journey and rite-of-passage for the kids and a bonding time for our family.  It hasn't been an easy undertaking but rich rewarding in so many ways....
Next week we leave Moana Roa with our broker and complete the trip home as we drive across Australia to Busselton, our home town.
