This blog is about life onboard SV Moana Roa, a 46 foot sailing catamaran, and the journey from the Caribbean back to Australia. Laurie and Sonia, Travis, Beau, and Kara leave home on Christmas Island (Australian Indian Ocean Territories) in December 2012 and set sail in January 2013.

The Yacht

Sailing Vessel Moana Roa "Everlasting Ocean" (Polynesian) is a French cruising catamaran built in 2002.  The model is a Bahia 46, Maestro Version.  It has three cabins with ensuites and a very comfortable saloon and galley, with a large outdoor entertainment area. Twin diesels and a third diesel generator to run water maker, washing machine and recharge the house batteries when solar and wind are in short supply.

Steve and I did sea trials in July 2012 and sailed her from Martinique to St Lucia.

This is Beau's bunkhouse, and he will have to share with Travis when we have visitors.

The galley, small but functional - sorry no microwave Sonia!

Half the outdoor entertainment area, it can seat 12...
